Coaching and the meaning of the Golden Thread

The Golden Thread conjures up some of the most beautiful imagery.  It is a symbol that depicts connectedness.   It is also a metaphor that represents our personal journey that weaves its way through our lives.  It represents purpose and meaning in our lives and ‘our reason for being’.  It is also a symbol of inspiration, intuition and guiding light in our lives.  Similarly, the Golden Thread is literally the interconnected of our thoughts, dreams and actions that becomes the great tapestry of our lives.   There is a way in which all these meanings come together in the beautiful opening lyrics of Carol King’s song ‘Tapestry’:

My life has been a tapestry of rich and royal hue
An everlasting vision of the ever-changing view
A wondrous woven magic in bits of blue and gold
A tapestry to feel and see, impossible to hold

All that is past and present in our lives, lives within every part of our being and our experiences, consciously and unconsciously and are bound together by the golden thread.  We continuously draw through the golden thread as we move into the future.  In other words, the past informs the present and it will shape the future.
